Wild Flowers
When I was young my dad would say
Lets get in the Chevrolet
We’ll go for a ride but we never knew how far
We didn’t take much but we had each other
Mom and dad and my two brothers
Headed west in that old rusty car
But we had
Chorus:
Wildflowers on the side of the road
Mocking bird singing his song, sittin’ on an old fence pole
Dust devils dancing in the bright sunlight
The open road and clear blue sky
No place to be but where we want to go
Well I grew up and I got married
Now I’m not dead but I feel buried
Under this stack of bills that’s never paid
I love my kids and my wife
But I don’t like big city life
And one of these days we’re going to get away
And we’ll have
Chorus
Lets sell everything we own
Pack up the kids and disconnect the phone
I’ll get the dogs and grab my old guitar
We’ll throw everything in the pickup truck
We won’t need much just love and luck
A handful of songs and a wish upon a star
And we’ll have
Chorus
And no place to be but where we want to go
